SUMMARY:The Appliances Scrapping Facts and Implementation in Lebanon
DESCRIPTION:In the context of meetMED project, funded by the European Union, the Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE ( https://rcreee.org/ )) in cooperation with the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation (LCEC ( https://lcec.org.lb/ )) organized a hybrid event entitled “Appliances Scrapping Facts and Implementation in Lebanon” on 28 February 2024 in Beirut at 10:00 am (GMT+2).\nImplementing appliance scrapping campaigns and related awareness-raising tools are amongst the major activities of the meetMED project to help the population dispose of old high-energy-consuming devices. In addition, promoting efficient alternatives in the tertiary and public sectors, while also updating key stakeholders in the energy market about the scope of energy saving and the opportunities for CO2 emission reduction.\nThe objective of this event is to provide information about the scrapping and recycling industry in Lebanon, as well as identify the potential for collecting, recycling, and marketing materials from scrap appliances, along with the existing programs that could support this market.\nIn particular, the participants discussed the preliminary aspects to fill the gaps related to the scrapping of appliances, scrapping technologies, and the main advantages for the country context.
