SUMMARY:meetMED Twinning Cities Study Tour in Lisbon
DESCRIPTION:In the context of meetMED Twinning Cities Agreements, ADENE ( https://www.adene.pt ) – Agência para a Energia in cooperation with Lisboa E-Nova ( https://lisboaenova.org/ ) (Lisbon’s Municipal Energy and Environmental Agency) on behalf of Câmara Municipal de Lisboa (CML) hosted a two-day study visit on 21 – 22 May 2024 in Lisbon, attended by a Jordanian delegation representing the Municipalities Al-Karak and Sahab and the National Energy Research Centre (NERC), of the Royal Scientific Society (RSS ( https://www.rss.jo/ )). \nThe visit aimed to enhance the exchange of knowledge and best practices on energy efficiency in the building sector among Mediterranean cities by touring different projects and initiatives related to energy efficiency and sustainability in Lisbon.\nThe first day was centered around making acquaintance with the city’s main climate targets and actions, as well as energy efficiency related projects. Then, the delegation was received by GEBALIS, for a visit to a municipal nearly zero-emission building (nZEB), part of the Municipality’s accessible housing program. \nOn the second day at the Beirolas wastewater treatment plant, participants recognized the urban cycle of recycling and reuse of water carried out in those facilities by Águas do Tejo Atlântico ( https://www.aguasdotejoatlantico.adp.pt/ ).\nHereafter, the delegation visited the Creative Hub Beato Living Lab where they learned about how this project aims to transform the Beato Innovation District into an exemplary smart campus in the promotion of sustainable solutions.\nNotably, meetMED twining cities agreement activity is dedicated to enhancing the cooperation between cities in the north and south of the Mediterranean Basin region to promote dialogue, exchanging knowledge and experiences, and regional cooperation on energy efficiency in buildings.\n\n\n\n\n
