Webinar “Energy & Climate City Planning & Financing”
Overview of challenges and practices in Mediterranean countries, a key for territorial action
With the ongoing commitment of the meetMED project funded by the European Union, to fostering energy efficiency measures in the building sector, the French Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME) is organizing a webinar entitled “Energy & Climate City Planning & Financing” on 28 March 2024 at 10:00 – 11:30 (CET Time).
This webinar is part of three courses targeting local authorities and national agencies in the Mediterranean to enhance the dissemination of practices & tools at the national and regional scale with a concluding summary by the end of the series.
Background:
The Global Forum on Building and Construction held in Paris on March 2024 saw 70 countries sign the Chaillot Declaration to promote the sector’s transition in a rapid, efficient, and fair manner. It’s clear that there’s still a long way to go before all the players get involved.
Currently, local authorities have a number of planning tools, such as Sustainable Climate and Energy Action Plans, which may or may not have been developed within the framework of international cooperation. These plans emphasize the importance of construction and retrofit of public buildings. The challenge now is to support and finance them on a massive scale. Why are these tools important for prioritizing and anticipating the future? What are the possible levers of financing? How can financing be directed towards EE projects in buildings?
This webinar aims to present the latest work on financing Mediterranean local authorities, including a practical guide showcasing existing instruments.Through reviewing some case studies, the event will be an opportunity to share experiences about local financing instruments and initiate a discussion about the levers that can be used to accelerate such financing.
The webinar will be in French with simultaneous translation in English and Arabic
