meetMED Participates at GCF MENA Regional Dialogue in Morocco

meetMED project, funded by the European Union, is taking part in the regional dialogue organized by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) for the Middle East and North Africa from June 24 to 28, 2024 in Rabat.

The event aims to bring together stakeholders representing National Designated Authorities, Accredited Entities and Delivery Partners to facilitate peer-to-peer learning, share experiences and best practices, and identify and develop climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives.

In addition to fostering dialogue that leads to innovative investments and impactful readiness support, especially in states facing fragility, conflict, and sanctions. The Regional Dialogue will feature technical discussions and workshops tailored to support private and public sectors.

meetMED session entitled ”Towards energy efficient buildings in the MENA region”, is organized by the Mediterranean Association of the National Agencies for Energy Management (MEDENER) and the Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) on 26th of June. The session will focus on the challenges of mobilizing energy efficiency finance, it aims to achieve multiple objectives, including:

  1. Facilitating dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing among stakeholders to accelerate investments in energy efficiency projects by creating networking opportunities with financial institutions, project developers, energy service companies, policymakers, and other key players in energy efficiency finance.
  2. Sharing insights from the Mediterranean Sustainable Energy Investment Forums (MED SEI Forums) organized by the meetMED Project in 5 Mediterranean countries to delve into and discuss integration into the national strategies of these countries, and involve energy stakeholders together with ESCOs, financial institutions in a dialogue which aims at among others to propose innovative mechanisms for channeling private funds towards investment in energy efficiency in the public sector.
  3. Leveraging lessons from successful projects, innovative financing models, and experiences from various sectors to foster collaboration and enable the replication or adaptation of successful approaches.
  4. Rethinking Energy Efficiency Finance in the light of MED SEI Forum recommendations.
