meetMED Project Meeting in Rome Tackles Key Results and Challenges

On 4 and 5 April, the meeting of the Euro-Mediterranean project meetMED II “Mitigation enabling energy transition in the Mediterranean region” took place in Rome, in Spazio Europa, the public space of the European Commission’s representation in Italy.

During the meeting organised by the Italian Agency for Energy Efficiency (ENEA), representatives of all the organizations of the southern and northern shores of the Mediterranean involved in the project activities participated, representing (RCREEE) the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, and (MEDENER), the Mediterranean Association of National Agencies for Energy Management, together with other European partners of meetMED.

The meeting was a significant opportunity to assess the results achieved so far by meetMED II and define the next steps.

On the first day of the meeting the meetMED team came together to talk and discuss about the project’s progress, and also to plan and organise upcoming tasks and events.

The second day was centered around the arrangements of second edition of meetMED Week 2023, the project’s largest annual event scheduled from 9 – 11 May in Marrakech, Morocco. In addition to discussing the dissemination and outreach strategy to ensure the awareness of the project’s efforts and outcomes and contribute to the long term and sustainable engagement among stakeholders.

Given the massive challenges facing the renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors, the southern Mediterranean countries are fully aware of the opportunities that can be seized thanks to close cooperation between the various actors involved and the commitment of the network of international experts in the field of energy operating in the Mediterranean, REN network, established within the project.
