National Consultation Mission on MEPS and Labeling in Tunisia

In the context of meetMED activities to fostering energy efficiency measures in appliances, RCREEE in close collaboration with the National Agency for Energy Conservation (ANME) organized a two-day nation consultation mission on appliances MEPS and Labelling from 25 – 26 April in Tunis.

The mission’s objective was to obtain more information about the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) and the labeling process for appliances in Tunisia, as well as identifying the key challenges hindering the growth of the local appliances market and exploring opportunities for enhancing MEPS implementation.

During the consultation mission, meetMED experts had the chance to meet some stakeholders in the energy efficiency sector representing: the National Institute of Standardization and Industrial Property (INNORPI), the Ministry of Trade, the National Institute of Statistics (INS), the Technical Center for Mechanical and Electrical Industries (CETIME), and a group of local appliance manufacturers.

The mission was instrumental in facilitating the identification of optimal strategies and interventions necessary for enhancing energy efficiency within the Tunisian appliance market.

The mission held back-to-back with the third edition of meetMED Week, the largest annual event of the project with the aim of promoting the energy and climate transition in the Mediterranean that took place from 22 – 24 April in Hammamet, Tunisia.
