The GREEN BOOCC GRASSMED is a Regional Platform for Training and Provisional Certification of Sustainable Buildings for Lebanon and the Mediterranean region adapted to the uses of the southern shore countries. Developed in Lebanon as part the second phase of meetMED Project funded by the European Union, the tool is being adjusted to other Mediterranean countries. It serves both as a regional platform for training stakeholders concerned with energy efficiency and as a performance standard for new and existing buildings in the residential and commercial sectors. GRASSMed aims to support the efforts of Mediterranean actors concerned with the reduction of environmental impacted generated by the building industry through the promotion of exchanges and the use of shared tools for training and certification.

The Pioneering initiative GRASSMed aims to :

  • firstly, at raising awareness about the benefits of sustainable buildings;
  • and secondly at promoting responsible building practices for widespread adoption.

By embracing sustainable building practices, we can create cities that are not only beautiful and functional but also resilient, healthy, and environmentally responsible. This is the path to a brighter future for generations to come.

The GRASSMed rating system offers a distinct advantage:

A Regional Relevance: GRASS customizes its certification criteria to address the unique environmental conditions of the Mediterranean region, making it particularly suitable for MENA countries.

Unlike international rating systems—often limited to luxury buildings in the MENA region and imposing high standards that may not align with local environmental realities—GRASS is designed to be inclusive and practical for all MENA countries. It supports both the construction of new buildings and the renovation of existing ones to meet green building standards.

The Green Building Open Online Courses and Certification GRASSMed Platform is a web-based platform that aims at promoting green building in the MED region with a user-friendly interface and a navigation menu that enable end-users to navigate and easily locate the information they need on the website.

The platform is completely free and available in English, French, and Arabic, making it inclusive and accessible to users across the region.
