On-line Workshop on Energy Demand and Energy Efficiency Modelling Practices

“Energy modelling of energy demand, energy efficiency, and renewable energy is an important tool to assist decision-makers in their policies’ design and implementation. Practices are in place in the beneficiary countries of the meetMED project through national and regional modelling initiatives such as OME, the Observatoire Méditerranéen de l’Energie (Mediterranean Energy Observatory). Apart from academic works, energy modelling is performed within the meetMED affiliated energy agencies or within the ministries using different models, and energy efficiency scenarios.

In the framework of the meetMED project (Mitigation Enabling Energy Transition in the Mediterranean region (meetMED), funded by the European Union, ADEME (the French Ecological Transition Agency) and RCREEE are organizing an Online Workshop on Energy Demand and Energy Efficiency Modelling practices, on October 25th, 2022, from 09:30-12:30 (CET).

This workshop is part of meetMED activities “Support to policy/decision makers on Monitoring and Evaluation”, with a focus on the Building and the Appliances sectors, that seeks to implement a standard Regional Energy Observatory Database on EE indicators, to follow up NEEAPs and national strategies’ implementation.

During the workshop, speakers discussed the models used for demand projection (econometric, bottom-up, hybrid): pros and cons, how to organize the data collection, and models inputs – in addition to reviewing the combination with energy supply and macro sectorial models.

This workshop is open to experts from energy management agencies, academics, relevant ministries, and data providers from the countries of the Mediterranean region.”
