Tunis – 21 May, 2025
Under the theme “Be Our Hero for E-Waste Recycling” meetMED is excited to announce the launch of an E-waste awareness campaign targeting school students from 15-21 May 2025, across Tunisia.
This initiative is part of the meetMED project, funded by the European Union in collaboration with the Tunisian National Agency for Energy Conservation – ANME and the Agence Nationale pour la Gestion des Déchets (ANGED). The campaign aims to educate students and the broader community about sustainable waste management practices and to promote environmental responsibility. It focuses on proper disposal methods for electrical and electronic waste, the benefits of recycling, the health and environmental risks associated with e-waste, and the importance of using energy-efficient appliances.
Launched in Sousse city “Elementary School Sahloul Hamam”, the campaign spanned for one week and engaged ten schools across all Tunisian governorates. It includes the production of various awareness materials—videos, brochures, and posters—to highlight the importance of recycling electronic waste.
Additionally, the campaign installed electronic waste collection boxes in each participating school, serving as a sustainable reminder of the proper mechanisms for disposing of hazardous materials contained in e-waste.
The campaign’s activities are set to expand to other countries involved in the project, including Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon, with the goal of fostering a new generation that understands the dangers of electronic waste to the environment.
