Plenary Session 2: Concerted Action on Buildings (Part 1)

The building sector is responsible from 20% up to 35% of the total energy consumption of each country of the region. To reduce it countries have been implementing a number of measures such as building codes, insulation standards, minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) and labelling systems for appliances. Despite the government commitments and regulatory and institutional frameworks, the implementation of these measures is evolving slowly. To counter these bottlenecks, Concerted Action on buildings aims to progressively harmonize strategies and policies on energy efficiency in buildings and appliances and to strengthen regional cooperation.
